WORTHING Football Club were comfortably beaten by Brighton & Hove Albion at Woodside Road this evening (Wednesday) as the sides met in a pre-season friendly.
The Championship visitors brought a good-quality side with a number of first-team players but eased out Rebels to finish 3-0 victors.
Rebels worked hard to try and match Albion and did well defensively, especially after the break as the rain lashed down, but Worthing’s reward came in the form of a bumper crowd of 1,754.
Albion led 2-0 at half-time thanks to Adam El Abd’s opener on 24 minutes from a well-worked corner.
Ryan Harley’s low, short corner was dummied by Romain Vincelot at the near post and El Abd latched onto the ball and curled home just inside Alan Mansfield’s left-hand post.
Kazenga LuaLua made it two six minutes later as he won the ball 25-yards out, shrugged off his man and drilled into the bottom left from range.
George Barker’s sweet strike for 12 yards wrapped things up 13 minutes from time as he left Mansfield standing in finding the bottom corner.
