COUNTY NEWS: Star player out for the season after car collision

An key attacking player has been ruled out for the season after sustaining a broken foot in a car collision.

Midfielder Callum Saunders was involved in a collision yesterday, his club confirmed on its website.

A spokesperson for Haywards Heath Town FC said: “Earlier today Callum Saunders was involved in a car accident that has left the player with a broken foot and will see him sit out the remainder of the season.

“We understand that things could have been much worse and are relieved to hear that Callum has only sustained a broken foot after the incident.

“Everyone at the club would like to wish Callum a speedy recovery and look forward to his return.”

Callum, from Brighton, has previously played for Peacehaven and Burgess Hill. He has made 36 appearances for Haywards Heath this season, racking up 20 goals and 20 assists in all competitions.
