EAST Preston Football Club were crowned champions of the County League for the first time in their history this afternoon.
EP won the title without playing as second-placed Littlehampton’s 1-0 defeat at St Francis Rangers means they can no longer catch the leaders.
East Preston were due to be away to Rye United, who have withdrawn from the league and all of their remaining games awarded to their opponents.
EP began their season with a 28-game unbeaten league run as they won 24 and drew four of those matches. They suffered their first defeat of the league season only last week, when they went down 2-0 at home to East Grinstead.
The club hope to be playing in the Ryman League next season.
