WORTHING Football Club manager Adam Hinshelwood feels his side must improve defensively if they are to overcome Chatham in the FA Trophy first qualifying round at Woodside Road on Saturday.
Rebels have gone three Ryman League South matches without winning and let a three goal lead against Herne Bay slip last time out and were forced to settle for a point.
Worthing boss Hinshelwood the defence is an area his team are really struggling with at the moment and said: “If we are going to beat Chatham this weekend we are going to have to improve at the back.
“I am a former defender myself and you should not have to score four goals to win a football match and you should not let a three goal lead slip as we did against Herne Bay.
“It’s painful to watch our defending at the moment and we are conceding some really sloppy goals.
“Hopefully we can put in a good performance on Saturday and secure some money for the club.
“I think it’s a case for our own pride now to go out and win games of football and the FA Trophy game would be a great way to start a revival.”
