WORTHING Football Club exited the FA Trophy on Saturday (October 5) after a 2-0 defeat away to AFC Sudbury.

The hosts went ahead through Ben Thompson on 21 minutes, before an own goal doubled their lead six minutes later and that was the way things stayed.

East Preston remain five points clear at the top of County League Division 1 after a 2-0 win at Ringmer. Fred Foreman and Liam Baitup were on target for EP.

Littlehampton moved up to sixth with a 3-1 victory at home to Hailsham. George Gaskin, with two, and Mitchell Hand struck for Golds.

Shoreham returned to winning ways with a 5-1 success at home to Dorking Wanderers. Carl Dunk, Chad Milner, Rob Allen, Elliot Quant and Rob O’Toole netted for Mussels.

Lancing went down 3-1 at home to Hassocks. Nathan Miles scored a hat-trick for the visitors, while Ryan Waterman was on target for Lancers.

Arundel lost 5-1 at home to Lingfield, with Rory Biggs Mullets’ scorer.

Bottom-of-the-table Worthing United suffered a 2-0 reverse at home to St Francis Rangers.

In Division 2, Steyning Town moved up to second with a 2-0 win at Midhurst. Mo Shuga’a and Alfie Gritt scored for Town.

Kieran Howard notched twice in Mile Oak’s 3-1 win at Rustington. Clay Lamont netted Oak’s other goal, with Richard Kinuya on target for Blues.

Wick & Barnham played out a scoreless draw with Seaford, while Storrington crashed to a 6-0 reverse at Broadbridge Heath.

Southwick are still waiting for their first win in Division 3 after a 3-1 loss at home to Roffey. Marcus Strevens’ goal had given Wickers the half-time lead.

In the 1st legs of the 1st round of the Division 3 Cup, Clymping drew 2-2 at home to Langney Wanderers with goals from Harry Thompson and Paul Hodder.

Ferring made it five successive wins with a 5-1 win away to Uckfield Town. Josey Stakim netted a hat-trick, with Josh Gibbons and Barney Boutwood also on the scoresheet.
