Collins “chuffed to bits” as Rebels end six-game winless run

Rebels joint manager Kieran Collins admitted he was “chuffed to bits” after his side’s 2-1 win over Ramsgate on Tuesday evening.

Worthing ended their six-games winless run thanks to goals from Tom Lawley and Chris O’Flaherty.

Collins said: “The lads worked hard for 90 minutes. Even though we’d lost our previous four games, we know that we are a good footballing side but, sometimes, we play too much football and don’t help ourselves and release the pressure.

“We mixed and matched our play a bit tonight and I’m really pleased as we set out with a game plan and did what teams have been doing to us.

“I’m chuffed to bits with the win. Even if we’d come away with a point, it would have stopped the rot.

“I felt we deserved to be 2-0 up at half-time but we went in 1-0 up and our old Achilles heel costs us again inside a minute of the second half.

“But the lads showed great character to go straight down the other end and score again and it gave us something to keep hold of.”

Worthing travel to lowly Corinthian Casuals on Saturday and Collins said: “The next three games are all winnable and it’s important that we take tonight’s performance into those games.”

On bringing in new faces, Collins added: “We’re looking at a few different options to try to freshen things up a bit.”
