WORTHING Football Club’s youth team threw away a three-goal lead as they eventually crashed out of the Lucas Fettes Youth Cup at the semi-final stage on penalties last night.
The young Rebels lost 4-3 on spot kicks to Potters Bar at Woodside Road after the match went straight to penalties with the scores tied at 3-3 on 90 minutes.
The under-18s raced into a 3-0 first-half lead but were pegged back by the visitors, who netted two of their goals in second-half injury-time.
Rebels had reached the last four with wins over Eastbourne Town (5-1), Three Bridges (1-0) and Herne Bay (3-2).
Potters Bar will now face either Burgess Hill or Sutton, who meet in their semi-final on Monday, in the final.
