SUSSEX FootGolf Centres have joined forces with Sussex Newspapers to help promote OctoBeardFest.
OctoBeardFest, the successful beard growing appeal launched by the Prostate Project in 2013, is joining forces with Sussex Newspapers and Sussex FootGolf courses to promote this year’s appeal.
The five centres in Sussex are at Crawley, Gatwick, Chichester, Rustington and Brighton. They will join all six Surrey FootGolf Centres to help raise funds for prostate cancer research.
The OBF marketing team will target pubs, clubs and businesses with a 15 minute drive of each participating centre and encourage everyone to give up an hour to play nine holes. One hour for one life. One man dies of prostate cancer every hour in the UK.
Nine holes of FootGolf takes on average 40 minutes.
Tim Sharp, OBF founder, hopes more will quickly follow. He said: “The aim is to get every FootGolf Centre in Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire supporting us.
“We will target pubs, clubs and businesses within 15 minutes drive of each participating centre and encourage people to give up one hour of their time to play nine holes. One man dies of prostate cancer every hour in the UK.”
The FootGolf Centres see this as a win, win situation. They get more midweek business at the same time as supporting a worthy charity. They have each agreed to donate 25 per cent of all green fees back to OctoBeardFest for people who register to play midweek Monday to Friday.
The centres will also display OBF leaflets and posters and generally promote the appeal through September and October.
Horton Park marketing manager Wendy Wright said: “We think OBF Footgolf is a fantastic idea. All my team are really proud to be associated with this great initiative.”
