Rebels fire five past Maidstone

WORTHING FC scored five for the second successsive Ryman League Division 1 South home game as they beat Maidstone 5-1 on Saturday (December 17).

Tom Manton netted the opener from 15 yards, before Maidstone were reduced to 10 men when Lee Gledhill fouled Steve Davies in the penalty area on 21 minutes.

Mike Huckett scored from the resulting spot-kick, before Maidstone pulled a goal back on 30 minutes.

Davies headed home Jamie Brotherton’s cross to make it 3-1 on 42 minutes and Luke Gedling then netted a 20-yarder early in the second half.

Huckett curled home the fifth on 66 minutes but Rebels were reduced to 10 men late on when Paul Kennett was dismissed for a second booking.
