Worthing Football Club won 3-1 at Leatherhead in Ryman League Division 1 South on Tuesday (October 9).

Rebels started the game brightly and went close through Matt Daniel and Chris O’Flaherty, before taking an 11th-minute lead.

Matt Daniel and Chris O’Flaherty combined down the left with the latter cutting the ball back for Tom Lawley to net from 15 yards.

Scott Tipper doubled Rebels’ advantage on 23 minutes when he steered home Lawley’s cross.

Leatherhead’s Greg Andrews and Rebels’ Scott Kirkwood were both denied by the woodwork as Worthing took a 2-0 lead into the break.

Leatherhead pulled a goal back when a fizzing cross was turned into his own net by Nat Hubert on 56 minutes and Rebels then had to withstand some pressure.

They did that and sealed the win with seven minutes left when O’Flaherty’s cross cannonned into the goal off Leatherhead’s Chris Boulter.

WORTHING: Banasco-Zaragoza; Metcalf, Woodburn, Hubert, O’Flaherty; Daniel, Gedling, Kirkwood, Lawley; Sullivan, Tipper. Subs: Brotherton (Sullivan 80), Sparks (Lawley 85), Lewis, Mansfield.
