WORTHING United Football Club have appointed Dave Shearing as their new manager to take them into County League Division 1 next season.

Shearing, from Eastbourne, was at the helm last season at United’s, then Division 2 rivals, Steyning Town, but was told by the club his service were no longer required.

Shearing, who has also managed at Rye, Eastbourne United, Bexhill, Wealden and Seaford, will be assisted at United by Tobi Hutchinson, while former Worthing FC youth team’s assistant manager Jon Roberts will also join the coaching team.

United chairman Glenn Houchen said: “Dave has been about and is a very experienced manager. What I really liked about him was he came in and really wanted the job.

“Dave has said travel is not a problem and he is confident he can bring a good experienced team in.”
