WORTHING Football Club made it five successive victories in all competition’s with a 2-0 home win against Hastings United this afternoon.
Goals from Brannon O’Neill and Omar Bugiel ensured that Rebels remain in fifth position in the Ryman League South table.
Worthing were the better side throughout the match and should have gone in front on 26 minutes, but Will Hendon failed to find the target from just eight yards out.
The home side had the perfect opportunity to take the lead just nine minutes later when Hendon was hauled down by Sam Crutwell and the referee pointed to the spot.
Worthing’s O’Neill stepped up to slam the penalty down the middle and give his side a deserved lead at the interval.
Rebels should have been two up on 54 minutes when Curtis Gayler slotted Lloyd Dawes in on goal, though, he shot straight at Josh Pelling in the Hastings goal.
O’Neill nearly bagged his second of the game ten minutes from time with a curling effort from just outside of the box but his effort was well saved by Pelling.
Rebels made sure of all three points a minute into stoppage time as Gayler squared for Bugiel who crashed his shot into the roof of the net and make it five straight wins.
Worthing travel to Chipstead in the Ryman League South on Tuesday evening.
