James Colburn gave a battling display in the penultimate rounds of the AirAsia Clio Cup at Silverstone over the weekend after a poor qualifying session left him with a lot of work to do.
He qualified only 16th fastest and put this uncharacteristic position down to a problem with the car. The first race of the day was in foggy conditions, with the start delayed. When the race started, Colburn worked his way through the pack to finish a respectable 10th place.
The second race took place in much brighter conditions and this time the Westbourne Motors-backed Colburn managed to make better use of his excellent start and was into ninth place come the first corner. From then on, he was racing on his own and kept out of trouble and managed to finish ninth
The series heads into its final rounds at Brands Hatch in a few weeks’ time, which is the circuit where Colburn obtained his first career victory in the Clios. He will be hoping to reproduce that same sort of form and close his season with a win.
