WORTHING Hockey Club’s ladies’ season ended in semi-final heartbreak on Sunday as, despite a spirited showing, they exited the Sussex Cup 2-0 at the hands of Brighton.
It was their second game of the season against the South League Division 2 side after they had knocked Worthing out of the EH Trophy after extra-time before Christmas.
Worthing performed superbly and it took an excellent period of play from Brighton to score as they went ahead just before half-time.
They then sealed their spot in the final with a penalty flick despite goalkeeper Claire Goodger coming close to saving it.
