Worthing Thunder Basketball Club are through to the semi-finals of the National Cup after they beat Derby Trailblazers at the Shoreham Academy on Sunday afternoon.

Thunder will travel to Leeds Carnegie in the last four on December 9 and Thunder coach Daniel Hildreth was pleased with the win, after a 62-56 league defeat at Leicester Warriors on Saturday.

He said: “It was good to get a confidence-boosting win like this, especially as we lost the previous day. It was a sluggish game, not your traditional classic, but it’s a win and I’m very proud of the lads for reaching the semi-finals.”

Jack Sunderland led all scorers for Thunder with 17 points as he got accustomed to the new layout at the Shoreham Academy quickly. Bud Johnston added 16 points, while Hank Rivers led the way on the stats front with 22 rebounds.
