WORTHING Thunder Basketball Club’s season came to an end on Saturday (April 14) after a 86-79 defeat at home to Leicester Warriors in the EBL play-off quarter-finals.
Thunder never really got going against a fired-up Leicester side and were 20-17 down at the end of the first quarter.
Thunder enjoyed a lead of 30-25 – their largest of the game – midway through the second stanza but Leicester fought back to lead 45-42 at half-time.
Leicester then trailed just once in the second half as they sealed a place in the final fours weekend in Manchester.
Leicester’s Eugene Pettway led all scorers with 27 points but the away side missed 19 of their 34 free throws.
Hank Rivers top-scored with 25 points for Thunder and also had 17 rebounds, while Marcus Tullis sank 21 points and Courtney Small 15.
