IT seems British women are not too good at looking after the environment compared with their European counterparts.
A survey showed that the UK female is likely to soak in a bath rather than have a shower, whereas the opposite is the case in Europe.
Men are far more likely to shower than bath than women, which means they are much more "costly" on the environmen
t and add more to global warming than men.
And the survey showed they are much more likely to turn on the lights just for "mood lighting" and flit around in light summer clothing in the middle of winter and turn the home heating full blast.
How right was the boss of the company which owns British Gas when he said that this winter we all will have to revert to wearing two jumpers as the cost of gas and electricity soars.
On a personal note, I'm regularly the last person to leave my office and then have the task of turning off the lights.
Guess which loos I find always have the lights left on... it's not the gents!
With fuel bills soaring by up to 40 per cent this winter, it will be even more important not to leave the windows and doors open on a cold day with the heating full blast.
Pockets and the environment will benefit if we all become that much more cost conscious – and that includes all the shopkeepers who leave doors wide open even on the coldest of days.
