A FINE art specialist company chose Worthing over neighbouring cities Brighton and Hove and Guildford to home its new art gallery.

Cloud Gallery Fine Art opened their second gallery last month in The Royal Arcade, are now offering contemporary pieces ranging from £200 to £10,000.

The gallery is open from 10am to 6pm, and is planning a series of artist solo exhibitions, classes and workshops.

Director Andrew Stott said: “It has been really good. We have been nonstop since we started.

“We have sold a lot of paintings and a few sculptures – we sold 10 paintings in the first weekend and it has carried on ever since that.

“The footfall has been great and the comments from people have been fantastic.”

Andrew said people who were regularly buying their art from Arundel, Brighton and Chichester before, are now saying they would not shop anywhere else, and Worthing has needed something like this for a while.

He also said he has had more than 60 people sign up for his still life, live drawing and pottery classes.

Andrew said: “We are currently rotating stock on a weekly basis so there is always something new in.

“It’s been what Worthing has needed.”

The gallery boasts a wine bar and coffee area, so people can get a drink and view the works at “their own pace”.

The gallery also offers a service where if a customer is interested in a particular piece, but is worried how it will look in their home, Cloud Gallery will drive the artwork to their house to hang it for them.
