FAMILIES are being invited to connect to the past over half-term, at Amberley Museum.

The museum will be open daily from Saturday, February 19, to Sunday, February 27, with a special interactive day for families and accompanied children on the Wednesday.

That day will give the opportunity to send a message from the past, handle objects with a story to tell, follow the museum’s hands-on treasure trail and enjoy horse and cart rides.

All of the activities are suitable for children between the ages of four and 12 years.

No advance booking is necessary and the sessions run from 11am–1pm and 2–4pm.

A museum spokeswoman said: “The workshops will enable participants to enjoy some fascinating and educational hands-on activities.”

The museum will be open for the main 2011 season from Saturday, April 9, to Sunday, October, 30.

Opening times are from 10am-5.30pm every Tuesday to Sunday, including bank holidays and Mondays during West Sussex school holidays, throughout the season.

During half-term week all the attractions will be open at the museum’s 36-acre site within the South Downs National Park, including a range of live exhibits, with a free historic bus service and narrow gauge railway, electricity hall, BT Connected Earth displays of telecommunications equipment and history, and much more.
