Vienna Festival Ballet Nutcracker profile - Melanie Cox

Melanie trained at the Arts Educational School, Tring Park, from the age of 11, and graduated in July this year.

In 2006, she won a gold medal in the Barbara Geoghegan cecchetti award and in the same year won silver medal in the Barbara Fewster cecchetti award.

In 2004, she danced alongside Wayne Sleep as Principal dancer at the Birmingham Hippodrome in Alice in Wonderland.

Melanie has danced with the English Bach Festival Trust, at the Banqueting House Whitehall, and in Athens at the Alexandra Tianti Theatre, under the direction of Chris Tudor.

She also danced at the Markova Theatre, Hertfordshire and His Majesty's Theatre Aberdeen, with AIYF in various productions including taking the soloist role of the Lilac Fairy in Sleeping Beauty under the direction of Terry Wright.

After dancing soloist work with Robert Cohan with the Aspire Trust and the National Youth Ballet, at Bloomsbury Theatre, London and the Linbury Theatre, Covent Garden, Melanie most recently was invited by Robert Cohan to take part in a demonstration of classical technique, which was recorded on DVD for television
