WORTHING book lovers are invited to be part of the town’s first World Book Night.

World Book Night is a national celebration of reading which will see one million books given away free across the country.

Worthing resident Chris Foster is organising the event, which will be held at Mooey’s Mocha Shop in Chapel Road on Saturday, March 5, between 4.30pm and 6pm.

“I jumped at the chance of being part of World Book Night and bringing a national event to the heart of Worthing,” Chris said.

“We will be giving away around 50 copies of Northern Lights by Philip Pullman free during the event, at which we’re also hoping to have live readings and performances from local writers and book lovers.”

As part of the event, local writers are being encouraged to come forward and share some of their work in a series of five-minute readings.
