A 25-metre replacement for the current pool is unacceptable, for reasons already ably explained by your correspondents in the Herald.
A large and growing town like Worthing should have an Olympic-size, 50-metre pool.
If financial constraints prevent that immediately, then at least the design of the smaller, 33-metre, pool should leave open the possibility of a future extension
: I would be interested to hear the opinion of an architect on that proposal.
Underlying this complaint is a more general frustration (in no way a criticism of a generally competent and conscientious Conservative council) – why is it that we seem, after all these years of economic expansion, to be paying more and more, and getting less and less in return?
Forget about "fuel poverty" – what about "council tax poverty"?
If it carries on like this then in the foreseeable future we will be paying half our income and getting nothing at all, apart from petty persecution for litter, while all the money goes into filling holes in the local government pension scheme.
