I AM writing in reply to Mrs Cummings' letter about seagulls.
I do not agree with her that the seagulls were here before us, yes — out to sea feeding on fish.
Now they have got lazy and scavenge on scraps of food that they can pinch.
Mrs Cummings should have a holiday in St Ives (Cornwall) as they swoo
p down with their large wingspans, frightening people, especially children, knocking ice creams and various items of food out of their hands.
I am sometimes awake from 2am and they are always screeching and never seem to sleep.
Most people I speak to do not like their behavour and, as Mrs Pryer mentioned, they do not give small birds a chance, so I am in favour of doing something about it before they get worse.
Mrs McKenzie
