I WAS appalled to read Ian Hart's comments about the circus at Dial Post.
He is obviously completely ignorant about circuses when he says the animals are "well looked after, fed and watered", giving the impression that their life is a happy one.

It is extremely cruel to keep lions and elephants (or any wild animal) in r
estricted cages, together with the stress of travelling around the country and then performing unnatural "tricks".

Animal organisations have been successful in closing many circuses in the UK, but unfortunately there are still a few left with performing wild animals.

To compare a circus with the treatment of Susan Boyle, who is perfectly capable of controlling her own actions, is ludicrous.

So, the hippies would have us do what with the animals exactly?
Put them back into the wild for them to die perhaps?
I thought circuses were regulated so as to ebsure the animals (where applicable) were treated well.
Is this not the case?
