I AM writing regarding last Thursday's front page story which I feel gave entirely the wrong impression of Pagans and Paganism.
The behavior allegedly exhibited by the people involved was not in keeping with current Pagan beliefs, particularly the drunken antics and bloodletting, made worse still in my eyes by the fact that young children were present in the house at the ti
me, and may well have witnessed the events described.
Considering that many people wouldn't know a Pagan from a hole in the ground, and often confuse Paganism with satanism (which the Herald, commendably, has not done in this instance), I feel that conclusions have been jumped to. Loud chanting and a circle of candles do not necessarily indicate a Pagan gathering.
Having organised a local Pagan meeting, or Moot as we call them, in the past, my experiences have been overwhelmingly positive.
Should the Herald or any of your readers have any questions about Paganism, you can find out plenty of information at the Pagan Federation website www.paganfed.org.
