EARLY on Thursday evening, April 24, I was watching television when I suddenly became unwell.
Being diabetic, I assumed I had a problem with my blood sugar level.
The usual treatment for this is to take something sweet, but this did not help, so my wife called for an ambulance.
The ambulance arrived within 10 minutes and the crew w
as fully briefed on their way to me.
They assessed my situation and told me I was going to hospital.
Upon arrival at Worthing, I was immediately assessed in A&E and it was discovered that I had a heart problem, so I was taken up to surgery and was attached to an external pacemaker.
I was kept in overnight and the following day I went back to surgery to have an internal pacemaker fitted.
I was discharged from hospital on Saturday morning and am now making a good recovery.
To all those involved, I would just like to give my sincere thanks for such a professional and caring service.
I find myself wondering what would have happened had Worthing A&E not been there – the extra time required to travel to Brighton or Chichester could well have been crucial.
In my opinion I am a very lucky guy, so please support the continuance of the A&E at Worthing Hospital.
