I WAS shocked and depressed by the news item about a Spanish student being assaulted in the town.
What will this young woman tell her family and friends about her trip to England? The obvious message will be that we do not like foreigners and we hate them enough to be violent.

I hope the offender is prosecuted and a stiff sentence handed out
for such despicable behaviour.

Just thinking about this event makes me feel ashamed to be British.

I hope it was the isolated action of just one idiot as any other incidents of this kind will hardly embelish the reputation of "sunny" Worthing.

It would perhaps improve the image of the town if we were to fly flags of all the European nations along our seafront rather than just Union flags and the St George's Cross.
