I WAS surprised at Mrs Gates' anger at the use of the expression Ms. First I was Miss, then Mrs, and now I prefer Ms.
Far from being derogatory, I feel it denotes independence and self-reliance. As pointed out in her letter, men don't declare their marital status in their title; why should we women be labelled?
