FURTHER to the parking debate, it is not just the exhorbitant charges that are causing anger, but other factors, too.

A young woman of my aquaintance took her three-year-old into Worthing to buy shoes.
She parked in an NCP pay-and-display car park, estimated the time needed, and proceeded to the shopping area.
Anyone who has shopped for a small child will know that it is a complicated procedure and when she returned to the car park she had gone a few minutes over the time paid for, and found a £50 excess charge attached to her car, with a dire warning that this would rise to £100 if not paid promptly.
This is totally outrageous. Daylight robbery is too mild a term. Some criminals get treated more leniently. It would be a simple matter for NCP to install a pay as you leave system such as that used at Worthing Hospital, but NCP know full well that they will make more money from these iniquitous penalty charges.
