WEST Worthing Rotary Club has responded to the disaster in Burma by donating £1,000 to buy emergency water purification kits and essential equipment for everyday survival.
Rotary International as an organisation is always at the forefront in offering aid to disaster areas throughout the world, and although the political situation in Burma is making matters difficult, Rotarians in South East Asia will be making every ef
fort to supply aid.
In Britain, Rotary (RIBI) prepare for these sudden emergencies by keeping supplies of shelter boxes and lifestyle boxes available to be dispatched to any part of the world at short notice.
These boxes include a tent, sleeping bags, basic articles to enable them to cook and manage essential daily requirements, but especially water purification kits.
In response to this latest emergency and for the future West Worthing Rotary Club has sent £1,000 from our own reserves, which will buy four of the lifestyle boxes.
This donation in no way affects our giving to local good causes, which in the past year have included West Tarring Young People's Club, Worthing Churches Homeless Projects, Goring Guides and other individual needs.
If you wish to donate towards our efforts to raise money for international disasters or local good causes, or to find out more about Rotary, please contact us 01903 502867
