HAVING been customers of the Globe for over 20 years, and living a stone's throw away, we find it absolutely incredible that the council has turned down the application for outside drinking.
We and the majority of our neighbours have never had any trouble from any of the customers of the Globe.

It is a pub that is frequented by responsible people who enjoy a drink with the other regulars.

For many years the carnival used to go p
ast the pub and there was always a huge crowd of people drinking outside and there was never any trouble or complaints then.

In fact it is very rare for more than 20 people at any one time to be outside enjoying the warm summer evenings and, if anything, they would deter the loutish groups that go past the pub on their way to the town from hanging around on the corner.

Surely, with today's emphasis on human rights, Nick and Clare and their regulars have a human right not only to make a living but also to drink outside on the pavement, which as far as we are aware is part of the premises.

If Nick and Clare are allowed to drink outside because they pay their council tax, does this mean that anyone who has guests around is not permitted to have a drink outside in the garden?

And if a neighbour complained, would this mean that they would also be unable to smoke?
