I JUST wanted to thank a considerate Worthing resident.
During the stormy weekend of the Birdman events on the pier, I lost my phone on the beach. I only realised when I got to the railway station. A gentleman with a foreign accent had called the last number dialled to advise that he had found the phone.

My son passed the phone to me and I took the caller's email address. He was late for work and so he could not wait for me to return to the beach but he promised to post the phone.

After a week, I thought that was it. I was delighted when the phone arrived, alas without an address or contact name.

Unfortunately, I then found I must have taken down the email address wrongly.

I just want to thank this kindly stranger. He returned the phone at his expense without looking for reward. I'm sorry I didn't get to thank him personally.

A small event, but sometimes it's good to be reminded that people routinely carry out good deeds.
