YOUR article states that in this country, total ankle replacement surgery only takes place at Southlands Hospital, Shoreham.
I would like to say that I have had both my ankles, very successfully, totally replaced, over the last two years, at the Wrightington Hospital, Wigan, by consultant orthopaedic, surgeon Mr Peter Wood.

I am an ex-athlete, now aged 65, who had grad
e four severe osteo-arthritis in both ankles, which gave me great pain and reduced mobility.

I have also had a left knee replacement!

After my operations, I can now stand and walk pain-free, not to mention cycle and swim.

Peter Wood deserves the credit for giving me back a quality of life that I thought I had lost for ever.

Pat McNab
