Published Date: 31 July 2008
WITH wonderful weather and wonderful support from the public last Sunday, 60 charities and worthy causes at the free charity market organised by Worthing Lions Club as part of Worthing Festival had, according to Worthing Rotary Club's John Leitch, a "brilliant" time.
The feedback from stall holders suggests in excess of £10,000 has been raised collectively for the charities involved.

Worthing Lions Club would like to thank not only the many volunteer helpers on each charity stall for an attractive display, but also the many thousands of visitors who generously supported so many worthy causes.

Plans are already being made for an even larger free charity market next year.

We would now like to receive contact details from any charity or worthy cause that has not so far participated in this particular event.

Send a brief note with contact details to Worthing Lions Charity Shop, 115 George V Avenue, Worthing, BN11 5SA.

Lions Derek Barnes, John Sayles, Geoff Taylor and Jack Tunks (Charity Market Committee)

PS: The fireworks on Friday night were also greatly appreciated by the general public.

We would like to point out that Worthing Lions Club and sponsors provide this free event as a "thank you" to the people of Worthing for their wonderful support. It's not provided by the council.

NOTE: All letters must include a name and address which can be withheld by request.
