LAST year I, like thousands of others, was encouraged by the gas company to invest in a new energy-efficient central heating boiler at a cost of £1,200.
Great – smaller gas bills, I thought.
Er, no actually.
Centrica are putting up the cost of gas by 36 per cent.
Now, if you were a sneaky financial chief at the gas company, and lots of consumers cut their consumption by fitting energy-effi
cient boilers, and your fixed costs of salaries, buildings and plant stayed the same, how would you balance the books?
Put up the gas prices, maybe?
So, I invested my money to make a saving for Centrica.
