THANK you for printing my letter asking for opinions on bringing the Birdman of Bognor to Worthing.
Since then, I've been listening to the local news on Splash FM and it seems that our town centre manager, Sharon Clarke, has been busy meeting with the organisers of the Birdman and checking if Worthing Pier was high enough and the sea was deep enough at high tide.

The answers seem to be ...yes, technically it could happen at Worthing!

I also understand that Brighton would also be very keen to hold this exciting international annual event, but the organisers at Bognor would prefer Worthing as a location.

Please can the Worthing Herald, with the support of its readers, start a campaign to ensure we make the best use of this great opportunity for Worthing?

Apparently, £10,000 has already been raised by local business and a further £15,000 needs to be raised to meet the costs for holding this event.

Let's get behind a campaign to bring the Birdman of Bognor to Worthing and show everyone what our great town can achieve.

We have a lovely, traditional, award-winning pier and a great promenade with lots of of viewing space – let's put them to some good use this summer!

What do your readers think?
