Eagles took over from Wisborough Green, who have slipped to second but fourth-placed Broadwater trail Eagles by just 30 points and each team have four games left.

Third-placed Felbridge, whom Broadwater host this weekend, have a game in hand and are 16 points off the top.

Broadwater skipper Graham Waller said: "We've given ourselves a sniff and are hanging on by the coat tails. It's a big game this week and if we can do something there, we'll be in with a shout as we're not going to hand over the title lightly.

"I haven't looked at setting targets but I think we need to be looking at getting 90 points from our last four games.

"Felbridge and Wisborough are both massive games, but our other games against Southwick and Portslade won't be easy.

"It's a great league this year and is really open. I think anyone of the top six, from Southwick upwards, can still win the league."

Broadwater restricted Eagles to 150-8 from their 49 overs on Saturday as James Iago took 3-57 from 25 overs and bowled a 13-over spell which went for just six runs.

Grant Christie also took three wickets before Fallah Ud-Din, who finished with 6-36, reduced Broadwater to 96-5.

But Nigel Waller's unbeaten 35 and Paul O'Sullivan's 26 got Broadwater home and they are now unbeaten in five games.

Chippingdale increased their lead at the top of Division 3 to 46 points after thrashing Three Bridges 3rd by 163 runs.

After falling to 56-4 in their innings, a 114-run stand for the fourth wicket between Jerry White and Ross Baumann laid the foundations for Chipps' total of 250-8. Baumann smashed 97 with 16 fours and two sixes and White hit 14 fours in his 67.

Bridges fell to 14-3 before a 60-run stand between Atiq Rahman, who struck nine fours and two sixes in his 51, and Trevor Lelliott, who scored 11. But, once their partnership ended, Bridges lost their last seven wicket for just 14 runs and were all out for 87.

Brothers Ollie and Tim Hall both picked up three wickets and skipper Pete Mansell grabbed two.

In Division 4, Lancing Manor remain third from bottom after a six-wicket defeat at home to Crawley Eagles 2nd.

Neil Reynolds struck 53 in Manor's 189-7 but Musawer then blasted an unbeaten 98 as Eagles raced home in 34.2 overs.

Middleton overtook Goring at the top of Sussex League Division 3 West after Goring drew at Littlehampton on Saturday.

Goring won the toss and inserted their opponents who made 277-9 after their overs.

Stand-out scores from opener Graham Blann (65), James Askew (28), Stuart Hanks (35) and Luke Vinter (57*) helped them to their total.
Aaron Wyatt 4-85, and Ellis Woolley took Goring's wickets.

Goring then responded with 227-7 as Sam Botham top scored with 97.
He and Ben Cartwright (46) put on 134 for the third wicket, after they had fallen to 29-2.

Matt Keen then chipped in with 19 but no one else could make a big impact on the score.

As wickets started to fall Woolley (18*) and Ross Brown (4*) saw out the innings.

Goring are now five points behind new leaders Middleton.

Friends Bangladesh are hosting a 20Twenty cricket tournament at Worthing's Manor Ground on Sunday.

Four teams will take part in the event which starts at 11am.

Competing in the tournament will be MCC, from London, English Chennel, from Brighton, a Worthing Cricket Club side and Friends Bangladesh side.

Entry is free and Friends Bangladesh are hoping to bring together friends, family and the community for a fun day of cricket.

There will also be food provided free of charge.
