WORTHING Football Club manager Alan Pook described Thursday's friendly against Arsenal as a "fantastic success for the club".
Speaking after the game, Arsenal fan, Pook, said: "It was a fantastic night. Unless we reach the FA Cup fourth round, we're not going to come up against players of this type of quality.
"I hope some of our players learn from the attitude of the Arsenal team. They just kept the ball, and kept on working for each other.
"It's great for the club that Arsenal have come down, and they were complimentary about our pitch and facilities.
"Mark Stevens pulled off a real coup to get them down. It was a great event, and everyone who came enjoyed it."
Richard Hudson, also an Arsenal supporter, on his return to action after a year out injured, said: "It's good to be back and was a great experience to play against Arsenal.
"A year ago, I never thought something like this would happen.
"I've been out for a long time, and it's been frustrating, but I haven't let my head go down. I've just been thinking about getting myself back and starting a league game again.
"I'm about a month away from being fully fit, and I'm looking forward to coming back and getting the club promoted."
Worthing goalscorer Paul Kennett said: "My goal was a bit bizarre. I never thought my header would go in, but they all just left it.
"It was a lesson against them, really. It was always going to be hard, but I thought we did all right.
"Obviously, they were technically better than us, and so were their fitness levels, but we all just went out and enjoyed it.
"It's good for the club, good for the community, and there was a good crowd here.
"It beats training, and hopefully gears us up for the FA Cup on Saturday, now."
Rebels defender Justin Gregory was coming up against Arsenal for the second time. He said: "It was a bit different to the first time I played against them, for Farnborough, at Highbury, when we lost 5-1.
"But we had a bumper crowd here, and it was a good day for the club."
