FIVE Worthing RFC players will be on playing duty elsewhere when the 1st XV go up against Hertford at Roundstone Lane on Saturday.
While that pre-season friendly goes ahead (3pm), with a final one away to Loughborough Students due a week later, Sussex are in action against Belgium in a 125th Anniversary game at Lewes (3pm). And in Ireland will be the Combined London South East a
nd Midlands Under-20s to play Leinster Academy in Dublin.

Worthing players in Sussex action are expected to be goal-kicking back Ben Coulson, loosehead prop Brendan Cross and tighthead Joe Burns. And in Divisional action across the Irish Sea will be Ben Maidment and Ed Philip.

Following the 10-10 draw between the South East and Midlands, Maidment will play for this set-up a second time. He was in the Combined XV who lost to Leinster 22-8 at Rugby Lions RFC in last year's inaugural fixture, along with Raiders' Will Harris and also Burns.

Worthing head of rugby Ian Davies said: "It's hoped this match at Donnybrook will encourage the RFU to provide greater support for the Divisional matches in coming seasons, and that the RFU Under-20 Divisional Championship will be revived within the next season or two.

"But for now, it's Irish opposition for the Combined team, with Munster already making enquiries about fixtures for next season."
