IT'S now two Sussex Junior tournaments unbeaten for the water polo players of Worthing Swimming Club.

This time they were boosted by the presence of Scott Martin, who will shortly be representing Great Britain Under-16s in Bulgaria.

In the event at St Bede's School, Upper Dicker in the east of the county, the Worthing coaching was by Richard Hooper, Ben Alcorn and Norman Griffin, and the team's dominance illustrated the club's process of developing talented players who enjoy playing the game at whatever level.

Their opening victory was 8-2 over Sussex Select, a team drawn from several clubs. They then put together a strong second period to defeat the spirited Hailsham team 4-1 in what was their hardest match. The improving and enthusiastic Eastbourne team were then despatched 8-2, with Oliver Rainford converting a penalty on his competitive debut for Worthing.

WORTHING (with goals): Scott Martin 3, Alexander Cranford 4, Sam Maloney 3, Alastair Hardinge 1, Daniel McDonald, Sam Abbott, Kevin Chan 3, Rachel Piper 2, Peter Flynn, Luke Helmer 1, Oliver Rainford 1.
Exclusions: Martin (v Sussex select).
