ROAD and rail traffic was severely delayed after a bus struck a gate at a railway crossing in Ferring.
It happened at 9.20am this morning (Thursday, September 4), on the north side of the crossing in Ferring Street.

Traffic was backed up in both directions of the street for up to an hour and rail services were affected too as emergency repair work to the gate was carried out.

One shopkeeper described the traffic as "chaos" and said drivers were having to perform u-turns to escape the drama.

It is believed nobody aboard the bus was injured and by 10.30am the railway crossing had been fixed by Network Rail staff.
