Lift

AN elderly woman had to be rescued by firefighters after getting stuck in a lift in Broadwater.

Firefighters were called to Penrith Court, in Broadwater Street East, at 8.25am today (Tuesday, August 19).

They isolated the power and wound the lift manually before opening the doors with a lift key and releasing the woman.

Smoke

FIREFIGHTERS were called to a smoke-filled shop in Broadwater.

A security device, which fills buildings with artificial smoke, had gone off at the Woolworths store in Broadwater Street West yesterday night(Monday, August 18) just after 6pm.

Bonfire

AN unattended bonfire was put out by firefighters in Bulkington Avenue, Worthing, just after 9pm yesterday (Monday, August 18).

Cooking

UNATTENDED cooking caused a small fire to break out at a Worthing property.

Firefighters arrived to put out the blaze in Valencia Road at around 9.30pm on Saturday, August 16.

Arson

A VAUXHALL Astra was severely damaged after arsonists set fire to it.

It happened in Guildford Road, Tarring, just after 4am on Sunday, August 17.

Torched

ARSONISTS severely damaged a VW Golf in Findon Valley.

Firefighters were called to put out the car fire at Bost Hill, just after 10pm yesterday (Monday, August 18).

Ring

A WOMAN turned up at Worthing fire station on Sunday, August 17, because she had a ring stuck on her finger.

Firefighters at the station in Ardsheal Road used a specialist cutter to remove the ring just after 1pm.

Electrical

AN ELECTRICAL fire damaged a house in Ashington.

The blaze broke out at 5.55pm on Friday, August 15, in Hillcrest Drive, in the conservatory of the single-storey property.

A woman at the house had to be given oxygen.

Firefighters said five per cent of the home was damaged by fire and 80 per cent by smoke.

It is believed the fire was started accidentally.
