THE 11-year-old daughter of a missing Ferring woman has written an open letter, begging her mum to get in touch.
Sophie Taggart's mother Elaine 48, vanished from her home in early January, and has not been to work, as a catering finance manager in Brighton, since January 3.

The letter said: "Dear Mum, if you hear about this letter, please phone someone and tell them you are OK because I am worried, because you haven't phoned us or been home in a long time. Love Sophie."

Police are increasingly concerned for her welfare, and said that the disappearance is out of character.

Detective Chief Inspector Adam Hibbert, who is leading Operation Gordon, the search for Mrs Taggart, said: "Her family are worried and want to know she is safe and well.

"If she does not wish people to know where she is, then we will respect her wishes. But we do urgently need to be reassured that she is safe."

Her car, a red Fiat Punto, was found in Goring Street, a short walk for Goring railway station, on January 4

Anyone with information should call Sussex Police on 0845 60 70 999, Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or the charity Missing People, on 0500 700 700.
