A MAYBRIDGE woman who caused her neighbours to become "prisoners in their own homes" has been banned from returning to her previous address and had her asbo extended.
Helen Lee, 37, mother-of-two saw police formally close her home, 113 The Quadrant, at the end of last year.

See video of police issuing the closure order in November, 2009, by clicking here.

This week, Worthing police and Worthing Homes again appeared at court to get the closure order extended for another three months.

Lee's family, sons Joshua, 15, Damien, 13, and her husband Brian, were previously dubbed as the "untouchables" by residents of The Quadrant.

Extension granted

The family were told they were unable to live at their home on December 9, last year because their anti-social behaviour had become "ongoing" and "perpetual".

On Tuesday, during the latest round of proceedings, district judge Roger Ede said he had no choice but to grant an extension to the closure order.

He said: "There have been previous numerous occurrences of persistent and serious disorder and nuisance to other residents of The Quadrant and I believe that behaviour would continue if the order was not granted."

Judge Ede also extended Lee's interim anti social behaviour order, which was issued on December 9, to protect her neighbours, who police say have been subjected to years of victimisation, threats and abuse.

Claims previously read out in court about the family have included fights, footballs kicked against cars and homes, verbal abuse, threats, and drunken behaviour. During a drug raid at the property, traces of cocaine were found.

Helen Lee spoke only to give her name and address, which she said was of no fixed abode. However, the court list stated that Lee currently lives just doors away from her old home at The Quadrant.

Police have previously asked for the Lees to be banned from entering The Quadrant altogether, but the court refused, saying it was unnecessary.

Ah, Mrs Lee, I see you are probably as well educated as your kids. Do you know the english language at all or were raised in the school of text speak?
I find it hard to believe that the police are victimising you, Im sure a number of residents in your ex-area would beg to differ.
How about getting a job for you and your husband, you can then afford to pay rent and you can then move to were ever you would like, instead of claiming social housing, which you will be thrown out of if you don't act like a normal and decent member of society (please forgive me if you are unable to understand any of the words I have used, I was taught to write and speak in english, I would dum this down for you but i don't have the time, I've got a job you see).

Scrittipollitti, if you’re going to criticise someone else, you should at least be able to practice what you preach. If you believe you have a good command of the language, I’m sorry to say it is not evident from your post. All you have done is made a personal attack on Mrs Lee and made yourself look rather silly. Comments like yours solve nothing and merely contribute towards making a bad situation worse. If you would like to contribute something towards the society in which you live, you should be looking for solutions to the problems within it, not attacking what you perceive to be the cause of the problem, otherwise it will only get worse, and you will be partly to blame.

Charles JM, Try living next to/near someone like Mrs Lee & her family for a few years, you may change your mind about your statement and perhaps even you may let your frustration slightly decrease your typing, spelling and grammer skills.
Its very easy for a liberal attitude toward something when you have not experienced this kind of extended antisocial behaviour yourself.

Hi Helen,
Oh I have a life, and a job and funnily enough, no eviction notices or ASBOs issued against me.

As for nasty, itsn't that why you've been evicted?

Scrittipollitti, you make assumptions about situations you know nothing about. I have had issues with neighbours, and been the victim of several crimes. I also deal with people in such situations on a regular basis. Experience has shown me that there is always at least two sides to every story and those that seek to blame others are usually part of the problem. If you have a problem with someone else’s behaviour, it’s usually because they have a problem with yours. Perhaps if you adopted a civil and mature attitude toward your neighbours, they would do the same to you. It would certainly be more productive than whipping up hatred and discontent.

So... is there still no explanation for this alleged victimisation?

All the personal comments aside... I've not actually seen any comment on this.
