A BUSY road in Findon is having to be resurfaced following a crash between a motorbike and a lorry this morning (Friday, May 16).
The crash, on the A280 Long Furlong just before 8am this morning (Friday, May 16), damaged the lorry's diesel tank causing 300 litres of the fuel to spill onto the road.

Police closed the stretch of road in both directions between the Warren Road roundabout junction and the A27 Arundel Road junction, causing traffic chaos.

Highways staff from the county council then set about clearing the diesel and covering any remnants with sand.

But this afternoon (Friday, May 16), a spokesman from the county council said: "The diesel has affected the road surface to such an extent that it has to be resurfaced.

"This is going to be undertaken as soon as possible, maybe this evening (Friday, May 16). Therefore the road will remain closed, possibly until early tomorrow morning (Saturday, May 17)."

Following the crash, police, a fire crew from Findon and the ambulance service were called to the scene.

A 24-year-old man was taken by ambulance to Worthing Hospital with what police described as serious but not life-threatening injuries.
