Jeffrey Jones, 55, charged between £20 and £60 for a range of sexual services at his flat in Quendale Court, Ethelred Road.

Prosecutors claim £184,247 passed through his account in the three years he ran the brothel.

He was caught after police were called to a row between him and Rungphet Willoughby, who told officers she worked for him as a prostitute.

Officers raided his flat last May and seized 1,000 condoms, 100 packets of lubricant, schoolgirl and nurses uniforms, a cane and pornographic videos.

Jones was arrested and bailed, but carried on running the brothel for six months before being caught again.

He placed adverts stating: "Mature ladies at Natalies. Slim and very busty Russian lady. Elderly gents welcome."

Richard Cherrill, prosecuting, told Lewes Crown Court last Wednesday that undercover officers visited the brothel four times.

He said one officer made an enquiry by telephone and was offered a menu and some prices.

On meeting Jones, he said it was clear he was answering the phone and acting as a receptionist.

Mr Cherrill said: "He was heard to explain the services available and at what price so when the officer's turn came he was introduced to a female called Jenny."

In an interview, Jones told police he made his money from selling cars and condoms.

Jones pleaded guilty to living off prostitution and controlling prostitution on the day of his trial.

Judge Anthony Scott-Gall said: "Society rightly acknowledges there is a need for sexual services.

"There has been such a need since the dawn of time but there is something unpleasant and criminal about those who control these services."

Jones will face a confiscation hearing under the Proceeds of Crime Act in September.
