A range of organ music at All Saints church event

The half-way point in the series of organ concerts at All Saints Church, Hastings, leads us forward to welcome Johnathan Allsopp from Durham Cathedral.

His programme travels the organ repertoire from Bach, - father J. S. Bach and son C. P. E. Bach - giving a nod to Walton, Elgar, Franck and Guilmant, and arriving at Sweelinck and MacMillan. Yes, there are composers of organ music who are actually alive!

This concert is on August 10 at 7.30pm. Refreshments available, and tickets are £8 at the door.

The previous Monday we welcomed the return of Stephen Disley from Southwark Cathedral. It was a great pleasure to hear him tackle the Father Willis organ with dexterity. The concert concluded with the power and might of this splendid instrument shaking the rafters in a Toccata by Garth Edmindson. And, if that wasn’t enough, he gave a rousing encore of Interada by Grayson Ives, composed for the Queen’s Jubilee. The evening was an eloquent demonstration of an organ moving from whispering to roaring and delighting the audience. By Marion Lovell.
