After the General Election

Will the victors rally

The people to their cause,

Or will retraction follow,

The promises on pause?

In the first hundred days

Let's see how they perform.

Will they be shrewd enough

To weather global storm?

Where are the grand statesmen

To hold the world stage

And fight our corner bravely;

Able to engage?

Shadows, but pale shadows;

Gone the Empire's strength.

Now we should be united,

Not split breadth and length.

We succeeded as a Union,

Under the Union Jack.

Cleave us all asunder

And we'll end up on the rack.

Our Island race has talent

Demonstrated through the ages.

Will we rise above it,

As world strife rages?
