Chichester’s Pallant House Gallery has confirmed its reopening date

It has also detailed all the health and safety measures which will be put in place.

The gallery will reopen to the public on Wednesday, August 5 2020 with the spring exhibition programme extended until November 2020.

Spokeswoman Sarah Jackson said: “Due to the gallery’s closure on March 17 2020, the spring exhibitions were only open to the public for three days. Barnett Freedman: Designs for Modern Britain, Drawn to Nature: Gilbert White and the Artists and An Outbreak of Talent: Bawden, Marx, Ravilious and their Contemporaries will all reopen on August 5 2020.

“In line with guidance from Public Health England, the gallery will reopen with extensive health and safety measures to protect both staff and visitors.

“We will be limiting the number of visitors in the gallery at one time so you will need to book a time slot for your visit in advance, via our website or by phone.

· A one-way route through the gallery

· Social distancing guidance signposted throughout the gallery

· Our front of house staff will all be wearing personal protective equipment (PPE)

· There will be foot-operated hand sanitising stations around the gallery and we will be regularly cleaning frequently-touched surfaces throughout the day

· Our new opening hours will be 10am-4pm

· Our events programme will be going online – sign up to our eBulletins for updates

· Group bookings and tours are unavailable for the time being, until government advice changes

· You can enjoy a menu of light bites from our café which has moved to allow for social distancing
