West Sussex Art Society brightens up Worthing shop front
Their exhibition has been set up behind closed doors in the old Laura Ashley building on Montague Place. Paintings, drawings, prints and sculptures are on display in the elegant windows of the building.
The Society is keen to demonstrate that ‘the show must go on’ despite lockdown. Passers-by are able to view the work until the New Year.

Hide AdExhibitors include the following WSAS members: Aylin Sharpe, Marie Vickers, Glenn Langler, Marina Burgess, Diane Bailey, Maureen Hagger, Alison Tyldesley, Wendy Palmer, Desiree Hart, Mike Hoddy, Claire Garcka, Carole Morris, Steve Carroll, Julie Batty, David King, Ann Sylvia Ford, Raymond Skingley, Valerie Shepherd, Alison Wilkinson, Audrey Lee and Jane Dahill.
Alison Tyldesley is a member of the group and joint exhibition co-ordinator and has a studio at Colonnade House. The opportunity to put on the exhibition came about through talking to creative hub manager Clare Halstead.
Spokesman Joe Cox said: “During Covid-19, Colonnade House has been involved in a number of initiatives to put artwork in public spaces, and use of these retail spaces had been secured for a project, but some spare weeks were available. Thanks go to New River Retail for their support with the lease of the building. Wendy Palmer is also exhibition co-ordinator and in order to comply with Covid regulations installed the exhibition with the help of family members creating an amazing display and transforming the empty building. West Sussex Art Society is keen to demonstrate their aim to exhibit art in West Sussex.”
